Overview of Complaints and Grievances Process This is an overview of the entire complaints process. 1. Informal Resolution Stage Student attempts to resolve the matter with appropriate staff in the faculty or department. This applies to both coursework students and HDR candidates 2. Grievance Stage A formal grievance is lodged with the Grievance Officer of the faculty concerned. The grievance is investigated by the Associate Dean or the Faculty Manager and a decision is made. 3. Review by University Student Ombudsman If the student rejects the faculty’s decision she or he may lodge a complaint with the University Student Ombudsman. 4. Complaint to Ombudsman Victoria If the student rejects the University Student Ombudsman’s decision she or he may lodge complaint with the Ombudsman Victoria.
